The term: “save your pregnancy” means to prevent you from going through a miscarriage and to continue your pregnancy towards full-term.
If you are pregnant in your first few weeks and you experience the following symptoms:
- Vaginal Bleeding
- Abdominal Pains
You could potentially face an early miscarriage or a threatened miscarriage.
Though it is important to note that not all potential miscarriages can be saved, but with early detection and accurate diagnosis of the cause of your possible miscarriage, we can take adequate measures to keep the fetus.
This is our Antai (“安 “胎”) policy, where we will do everything in our power to save and restore your pregnancy to healthy conditions, wherever possible. Antai Hospital is one of the only private hospitals that offer patented and effective recurrent miscarriage treatment with a full refund policy.
What are the causes of potential early miscarriages or early pregnancy losses?
The primary causes of miscarriages during pregnancy are:
- The undeveloped microvilli of the placenta
- This brings difficulty in proper implantation into the endometrium’s basal layer, making the placenta unstable and easily detachable, causing a miscarriage.
- Increased sensitivity of the uterus smooth muscles
- Increased sensitivity in the uterine muscles (due to low Pg) causes more frequent contractions, leading to the embryo/fetus being detached from the endometrium.
- Uterine deformity
- The proportion of connective tissues and muscle tissue in the uterus is imbalanced, causing poor blood circulation for the fetus, causing a potential fetal demise.
- The volume of the uterine cavity decreased, restricting the growth and development of the embryo/fetus.
- Wrong implantation location can also lead to low blood circulation.
- Immunity Factors
- If you have anti-embryonic antibodies, it will damage the placenta microvilli’s outer layer, known as the fibronectin layer. The villi are damaged by the immune system, stopping its growth and maturation, making it unable to deliver sufficient nutrients to the fetus, leading to fetal death or early miscarriage.
- If you experience bleeding but no abdominal pain, it is likely that it is a recurrent immunological miscarriage.
- Chromosomal Abnormality of the fetus
- Deformity-causing mutations (the fetus is most likely deformed or impaired)
- Lethal mutations (haploidy, triploidy)
Under what circumstances can we save a pregnancy?
The important characteristics to determine whether a potential miscarriage can be negated are:
- The embryo/fetus needs to be alive. (heartbeat detected)
- Progesterone levels
- HCG levels
All three factors must be checked and diagnosed before proceeding to treatment.
However, not all types of miscarriages can be prevented, as shown in the examples below:
- Healthy Pg levels and HCG levels only indicate that the placenta and corpus luteum are in healthy functioning states. During diagnosis, some doctors may observe healthy Pg and HCG levels in the mother and assume the fetus is doing well when the fetus has already died. It may have died from factors such as chromosomal abnormalities, uterine deformity, or radiation exposure.
*These factors generally have no treatment or countermeasure to prevent them from occurring.
- If your test results show your Pg levels and HCG levels are low, it indicates the corpus luteum and placenta are in states of insufficiency. In this case, we can save the fetus by providing progesterone supplementary treatment to sustain the pregnancy.
The above examples serve to state a clear boundary between threatened miscarriages that can be saved and those that cannot be saved.
- Miscarriages that can be saved:
- As shown in example (a.) above, they are caused by conditions whose root causes are Corpus Luteum Insufficiency.
- Miscarriages whose root causes are immune-related may also be saved and prevented if detected early enough for us to administer our immunotherapy.
- Miscarriages that cannot be saved:
- As shown in example (b.) above, they are caused by conditions whose root causes are uterine deformity, chromosomal Abnormality of the fetus (胚胎素质低) , and other external factors.
What are the causes of pregnancy losses that are treatable?
Causes of pregnancy loss that can be saved include the following:
- Premature Ovarian Insufficiency
- PCOS
- Endometriosis
- Teratoma
- Hyperthyroidism
- Hypothyroidism
- Pelvic adhesions
- Hyperemesis
Treatment
It is important to note that we only provide progesterone supplementary treatment because you are in your pregnancy (HCG does not need to be supplemented). It is sufficient to save your pregnancy until full-term, causing no harm to both mother and fetus. Surgical treatment for the underlying causes (e.g., POI, PCOS, etc.) is not needed until your pregnancy is completed.
For the case of Hypothyroidism and Hyperthyroidism, Antai Hospital will provide an additional hormonal treatment to bring your T3 and T4 levels to healthy conditions. Please read here to find out more about these two endocrine disorders.
To protect and save your fetus from a miscarriage is our mission here at Antai. Only with an accurate diagnosis of the root causes can we provide effective treatment.
