PCOS maybe the cause behind your miscarriage – Antai Hospital

PCOS is known as poly-cystic ovary syndrome and is a condition that is one of the most common amongst women. It is a congenital condition, has up to 20 clinical symptoms and is a common culprit behind miscarriages & infertility. At Antai Hospital, with 20 over years of experience, our doctors understand that the root cause behind this condition is the presence of testicular tissues, that were remained during the process of Mullerian Fusion. These trace testicular tissues, that were supposed to degenerate completely, contain Leydig cells that secrete high levels of Testosterone amongst other functions, and during puberty, these women start developing the symptoms of PCOS as a result of this chronic hormonal imbalance.

Specifically, this condition manifests itself in the form of multiple egg cells maturing simultaneously, causing the enlargement of the ovary and obstruction to ovulation. This also causes significantly lower quality of egg cells released, if any are released.

With PCOS, many small sacs of fluid develop along the outer edge of the ovary. These are called cysts. The small fluid-filled cysts contain immature eggs. These are called follicles. The follicles fail to regularly release eggs. Early diagnosis and treatment along with weight loss may lower the risk of long-term complications such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

Symptoms to expect:

  • Excessive hairiness
  • Obesity
  • Mood swings
  • Irregular periods
  • No periods
  • In-frequent periods
  • Miscarriages
  • Infertility
  • Enlarged ovaries with multiple follicles

How do we diagnose PCOS?

Diagnosis is primarily done by via the 3 methods stated below, if you are positive for any of the 2 you are said to confirmed with a case of PCOS

  1. Blood-profile (free Testosterone)
  2. Ultrasound indicates polycystic ovaries
  3. You have regular infrequent, missed periods.

How do you treat PCOS?

PCOS is treated at Antai Hospital surgically. We do not rely on medication or pills, as they are only for dealing with symptoms. They can allow you to artificially bleed for a period of time, but you will not get pregnant nor will the underlying disease be eliminated. These are temporary solutions only.

At Antai, we isolate these abnormal testicular tissues and remove them via 3D Laparoscopy. Only by removing these abnormal tissues can PCOS be effectively cured, and the only way to achieve true natural pregnancy with a healthy outcome. Get in touch with us to find out more at Antai!
