What is Adenomyosis?
Adenomyosis is the condition where endometrial tissue begin to grow and displace into the uterine wall (the myometrium), causing extreme menses cramps each month. Extremely debilitating and unbearable, it causes women to be in extreme discomfort for up to a week, unable to conduct any meaningful work and sometimes even bedridden. Many of them instead rely on birth control pills or other methods to completely halt the menses cycle, and in doing so, causes more complications.
This condition is characterized by the presence of multiple adenomyomas (benign displaced tissues) that grow in numbers and various sizes in the wall, which leads to another distinct characteristic: swelling of the uterus.
Symptoms
- Extreme menses pains (Dysmenorrhea)
- Discomfort in the pelvic regions
- Pain during intercourse
- Infertility
- Recurrent Miscarriage
- Heavy menses flow
- Irregular periods
Diagnosis
- Pelvic Examination
- Ultrasound
- 3D Laparoscopy
