3D Laparoscopy for Pelvic Diseases

Recurrent miscarriages and embryonic demise can be caused by a multitude of reasons. One of the most common causes is due to the occurrence of Corpus Luteum Insufficiency caused by Pelvic Diseases (CLI). In this article, we focus on how these Pelvic Diseases cause recurrent miscarriage and the use of Antai’s 3D-Laparascopy as an effective diagnosis and treatment.

There are a few prominent pelvic diseases that cause CLI, which can lead to recurrent miscarriage and potential embryonic demise, they include:

These Pelvic diseases are closely related, and they can easily be a complication of one another. For example, Pelvic Adhesion is one of the most common complication that is observed amongst several Pelvic diseases.

How does Pelvic Disease cause recurrent miscarriages?

As you can see from the above diagram, CLI leads to a drop in progesterone levels.

During pregnancy, low levels of Progesterone will cause:
  • The microvilli of the trophoblast cells will under-develop, causing difficulty for implantation to the endometrium or a shallow implantation.
  • An increase in the sensitivity of the uterine smooth muscles, which leads to frequent contractions.

If left untreated, it leads to recurrent early miscarriages or embryonic demise. But rest assured, Antai Hospital offers effective treatment for these conditions.

What makes our Antai treatment different than conventional treatment?

In most gynaecological conditions, conventional treatment from most hospitals will have the affected organs removed, deeming them incurable; instead of curing the condition.

We understand that Pelvic diseases are organic diseases, meaning the treatment requires surgery. Here at Antai, we never resort to removing affected organs as a method of treatment. Instead, we possess advanced medical technology i.e.  Laparoscopic B-ultrasonography and 3D-Laparoscopy that can effectively treat these conditions. Used simultaneously, they allow our surgeons to have a direct visualization of the pelvic cavity, to offer patients an accurate diagnosis and treatment.

For Chocolate Cysts:

Most hospitals will resort to having the affected ovary removed, and their explanation would usually be that you still would have another fully functional and healthy ovary left and that you should not worry.

Antai Hospital instead uses B-ultrasonography and 3D-Laparascopy to identify the chocolate cysts in the ovaries and carefully have them removed, without having to remove your ovaries. We also apply our Antai Bio Adhesion Barrier to prevent re-adhesions to the surrounding tissues (Pelvic Adhesion). This significantly reduces the chances of a relapse. (In case of relapse, treatment is FOC) Click here for more information about this condition.

For Endometriosis:

Most hospitals administer pain medication and combination hormonal therapy to treat Endometriosis. Though effective, these are temporary solutions that do not tackle the root cause. Which means the condition will most likely relapse and worsen over time.

Antai Hospital uses our specialized 3D-laparoscopy to identify and cut out the lesions outside the uterine cavity. After that, we will relief any adhesions in the pelvic cavity and apply our Antai Bio Adhesion Barrier to prevent any re-adhesions that may occur, also preventing potential relapses. Pelvic Adhesions:

Using Radiography (X-ray) and B-ultrasonography to check for adhesions in the pelvic cavity. Antai’s 3D-Laparoscopy is then used to relief the adhesions. We also apply our Antai Bio Adhesion Barrier to prevent any re-adhesions.  Once done, your organ functions will be restored. Click here for more information about this condition.

Treatment will be categorized into the following 2 groups:
  1. If you are currently pregnant:
  • At this stage, the only effective way to protect your pregnancy is to administer a progesterone supplementary therapy until a successful labour.
  • Surgery cannot be done until after pregnancy is over.
  1. Before pregnancy:

Besides 3D-Laparoscopy to treat the pelvic diseases, your treatment may include Progesterone Supplementary TreatmentImmunotherapy (if you test positive for anti-embryonic antibodies) and more depending on whether your previous miscarriage is a:

  • Single factor miscarriage
  • Multiple factor miscarriage (2 factors)
  • Complex miscarriage (3 or more factors involved)

Note: If you have just experienced an embryonic demise or miscarriage, you will need to be on contraceptives before receiving treatment.
