Antai Hospital uses 3D-Laparascopy to effectively treat Ectopic Pregnancy and its primary causes, preventing it from re-occurring and helping you secure a healthy pregnancy.
Treatment of Ectopic with Antai 3D-Laparoscopy can save your pregnancy.
Ectopic Pregnancies occur when the embryo implants outside of the main uterine cavity. Implantation locations may include:
- In the fallopian tubes (90% of ectopic pregnancies)
- In the ovaries
- In the cervix
- In the uterine horns
- And in rare cases, the pelvic cavity
Symptoms of an Ectopic Pregnancy
Ectopic Pregnancies share almost identical symptoms with that of a blood-insufficiency threatened miscarriage, which makes misdiagnosis common. During the early stages of pregnancy, they both present symptoms such as:
- Abdominal Pains
- Light vaginal bleedings
- Pg ̿ , HCG ↓ (stable levels of Progesterone and dropping levels of HCG)
The biggest difference they share is the site of implantation of the embryo. For threatened miscarriages, the embryo is usually still implanted within the uterine cavity while Ectopic Pregnancies are implanted elsewhere outside the uterine cavity.
Using a B-ultrasound, doctors can tell the difference between these two. For normal pregnancies, doctors should be able to spot the presence of a gestational sac directly in the uterine cavity. If the gestational sac is not found in the uterine cavity (though it is not always easy to detect it outside the uterine cavity), it is most likely an ectopic pregnancy.
You may also be at risk if you have a medical history of persistent infertility or Tubal surgery. If you have experienced any of these symptoms, you are advised to seek treatment immediately as certain tubal pregnancies may be life threatening.
Why do Ectopic Pregnancies show low levels of HCG?
In ectopic pregnancies, we understand that the embryo is implanted on the fallopian tubes, ovaries, cervix etc, instead of the endometrium, where they would normally implant.
The locations that these embryo’s implant:
- have very little endometrium or none at all, causing a very unstable/unhealthy implantation, and poor blood flow/nutrient exchange.
This negatively affects the growth and maturation of the embryo, naturally showing a drop in HCG levels, which indicates the embryo is gradually dying.
3 Antai Techniques for the treatment of Ectopic Pregnancy
- Antai Technique of Ectopic-Intrauterine Transplantation (Continuation of pregnancy)
- Using our Antai 3D-Laparoscopy, our doctors can successfully transplant the embryo from where it is currently to the endometrium, to allow continuation of your pregnancy.
- In ways, it is a form of “Natural IVF”.
- Surgical Incision to extract the embryo (Termination of pregnancy)
- Using 3D-Laparoscopy, our doctors can carefully make an incision on the fallopian tube and extract the embryo from site of implantation. After extraction, we will insert a fallopian tube stent to prevent formation of adhesions and stitch the incision to promote faster healing.
- You may also be administered with Methotrexate medication to completely terminate the pregnancy for the purpose of preventing any further complications.
- Patients do not need to have their fallopian tubes (Salpingectomy) or ovaries (Oophorectomy) removed as per conventional treatment offered by other hospitals, protecting and preserving your fertility.
- Treatment of the primary diseases that caused the Ectopic Pregnancy
Here at Antai, besides effectively treating your Ectopic Pregnancy, we will also identify and treat its primary cause, to prevent future Ectopic pregnancy, recurrent miscarriage, and infertility as well. The possible primary causes include:
- Congenital Uterine Malformation
- Uterine Septate
Using Hysteroscopy to surgically remove the excessive tissues, apply our Bio Adhesion Barrier to prevent re-adhesion and insert a pear-shaped balloon stent to maintain the uterus size and shape.
- Naïve Uterus
Using Hysteroscopy and Laparoscopy simultaneously to conduct a uterine expansion surgery, apply our Bio Adhesion Barrier and insert a pear-shaped balloon stent to maintain uterine size and shape.
- Pelvic Adhesions
- Adhesions in the fallopian tube and uterine cavity will causes obstructions and blockages, affecting the delivery of the embryo towards the endometrium, leading to ectopic pregnancies.eg. Fallopian Tube Obstruction leading to Tubal Pregnancy.
- Using Laparoscopy, our doctors will carefully and accurately remove all adhesions from the uterine cavity and apply our Antai Bio Adhesion Barrier to prevent future re-adhesions.
