Poly-Cystic Ovary Syndrome – Antai Hospital

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a complex but common ovarian disorder among women in their reproductive years (between 18-40), affecting about 10-12% of women in this age group.

PCOS affects how a woman’s ovaries normally work. Because of the hormonal imbalances, the ovaries release eggs irregularly and sometimes not at all. It may also cause the eggs to be underdeveloped. The ovaries are more prone to develop cysts over time and may cause recurrent miscarriage.

The following are three main characteristics of PCOS:

  1. High levels of Testosterone
  2. Anovulation (not releasing eggs during ovulation)
  3. Insulin Resistance

Symptoms

Some of the symptoms of PCOS include:

  • Irregular or absent periods
  • Excessive body hair on the face, chin, and chest areas
  • Acne on the front and on the back
  • Obesity
  • Unusually high sex drive

Please note that you may be at risk for PCOS if you have a history of:

  • Infertility
  • Recurrent miscarriages

These symptoms can be cured if the root causes are determined and effectively treated. If you are unsure or worried, please reach out to us and get diagnosed with Antai Hospital today.

Causes

Antai Hospital & Dr Chen Fenglin has discovered that the causes of PCOS are the following:

  • Presence of testicular tissue (Leydig Cells) in the ovaries
  • Abnormal shape and size of the uterus (uterine deformity)
  • Hormonal imbalance (excess androgens)

Diagnosis

  • A hormonal blood test to diagnose the levels of your reproductive hormones (T, FSH & LH)
  • A physical test to check for body acnes and bodily hair
  • B-ultrasound to check for polycystic ovaries and any uterine deformities
  • Hysteroscopy is a highly effective method to observe the multiple follicles in the ovaries directly
  • Test for the presence of anti-embryonic antibodies (you may test positive for this if you have a history of artificial abortions or recurrent miscarriages.)

Treatment of PCOS

Antai Hospital has diagnosed that the presence of testicular tissue (Leydig Cells) in the ovaries is the primary cause of the hormonal imbalance seen in women with PCOS. They secret excess amounts of testosterone, which disrupts the ovaries’ functions and causes most of the symptoms above.

Our Antai treatment is :

  1. Remove the testicular tissues from the ovaries via surgery
  2. Determine the type of uterine deformity (septate uterus, cervical insufficiency, etc.) and proceed with appropriate treatment via hysteroscopy
  3. If you test positive for the anti-embryonic antibodies test, we will administer our patented immunotherapy to prevent future recurrent miscarriages.

Here at Antai Hospital, we believe that an effective treatment can only come with an accurate diagnosis. Please reach out and arrange a consultation with us to find out more.
